Rest-pause is a High-Intensity Training technique in which, after reaching momentary muscular failure, the lifter rests briefly (around ten seconds) and continues with further single-rep maxima. It extends a set beyond the initial failure point to accumulate more high-intensity work. It is associated with Mike Mentzer.
