What a static hold is

Instead of another rep, you hold the weight still and fight the load at a fixed angle. It is one more tool for reaching momentary muscular failure on a single set.

How to apply it

Pick a joint angle you can control, hold until the position starts to give, then lower under control — never let it collapse. Machines and safety pins make this far easier to bail from. Train to failure safely →

Where it fits

Static holds sit alongside rest-pause as advanced ways to push intensity when straight sets no longer do. Reach for them occasionally, not by default.
